Starting after Rosh Hodesh Elul, Sephardic Jews around the world wake up in the early morning to recite the Selichot which consist of special prayers and poems. The Selichot are recited every day until the end of the Yamim Nora'iim. The Yamim Nora'iim begin on Rosh Hashanah which starts the new year and end on Yom Kippur also known as the Day of Atonement. Rosh Hashanah

Rosh Hashanah is a two day holiday that marks the beginning of the new year. During this holiday, we eat special kinds of food at night and we blow the Shofar (Ram's horn).
Aseret Yeme Teshubah
עשרת ימי תשובה
The ten days from Rosh Hashanah till Yom Kippur are called Aseret Yeme Teshubah. It is a time of Teshubah or repentance before Yom Kippur, the day of judgement.

The Yamim Nora'iim conclude with Yom Kippur which is a day of fasting and prayers.
